Action/Thriller genre has a lot of the characteristics of both action and thriller but not all, it uses the items from action films such as the guns, explosion, and chases, but will still have the tension and suspense of a thriller. An action/thriller will have a deep story line, maybe with a twist at the end, this all will reflect on the certificate of the film, as younger viewers may not follow the story line as well as an older viewer may, so Action/Thrillers are usually up towards the 15 18 certificate.
The 'Batman Trilogy' would be a good example for an Action/Thriller because of the items that are featured in it , such as 'Batman's' vehicles and all the gadgets that are used, at first glance you'd expect to see this as an action film but when you look deeper you see that through out the Trilogy the common theme of tension and suspense is used to add depth and further feel into the story line. The certificate of this film was quite controversial because The Batman comics are for children so that would be a large fan base for the film, but on the other hand the genre represents a more maturely set out film.
Another film that is very similar to what our film will end up like is 'Taken' this features one man, that goes through different circumstances to try and get his daughter back. Due to the whole film being based on 'Liam Neesons' point of view, the audience gets to see what he sees and feel what he feels, this helps with the tension and suspense aspect and still gives action aspects via, chases, fights and guns which fits into the revenge theme of a Thriller.
